London Lovin' | #TheLiveShoot & Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty

When I saw the email drop into my inbox with the opportunity to attend a live glossy magazine shoot with one of the UK's leading fashion magazines in Shoreditch, I was straight on it. It was intrigued to see what goes on behind the scenes for an editorial shoot at ELLE UK, especially when it's in conjunction with, you know the little ol' brand GHD. I was most interested to see what differs to a normal shoot and it was really cool to see all the professionals hard at work and creating multiple looks ready for publishing in the August issue.

There were lots of activities going on throughout the day, such as, complimentary hair styling by the GHD team, free manicures at the pop-up nail bar, polaroid style prints of all your Instagram pictures from the day, the chance to appear on the billboard at Piccadilly Circus and a limited-edition goodie bag packed with GHD styling essentials including the latest edition of ELLE and lots more.

Unfortunately overall, #theliveshoot was a bit of a let down, I don't think ELLE or GHD anticipated quite a turnout. I think the main issue was that everyone turned up at similar times, creating a huge queue which at one point was of a waiting time of 2 hours (we only had to queue for an hour) but still! Despite the queue the team did do their best to keep everyone happy in the form of Lola's cupcakes, cookies & sweets - yummmm! We never saw those goodie bags either (of course, it's not the end of the world but it is always a let down when you're promised something).

Following the shoot, we headed to the Victoria & Albert museum in South Kensington, for our pre planned trip to enter the world of Alexander McQueen. The highly anticipated, record breaking exhibition, most definitely lived up to the hype, it was absolutely stunning and showcases the very best of McQueen with the perfect combination of fashion and art. The time and effort that must go in to creating collections like these just amazes me. The whole exhibition was just so precisely presented and certainly a visual delight for all!

A must see, if you can get your hands on any remaining tickets..

  1. Loved the Alexander McQueen exhibition - I went with my daughter and Daughter in law in April - we were all completely blown away by his genius!
