The most stylish guest post by Jade Fung | Light and easy for summer

Y’ello readers of Chique Unique Critique! I’m Jade - writer and poser of The Jade Aesthetic. Jessica has asked me to guest post for her and I was, of course, more than happy to. It’s actually a bit daunting to have the responsibility of my chatter on her corner of the internet! But I’ll do my best to hold your interest (if not, just humour me anyway!).

With the world of topics as my oyster, I thought I’d write about how I’ll be keeping things light and easy for summer. We are getting the odd sunny, hot day so the last thing I want to be clad in is heavy… stuff. That goes for clothes, accessories and makeup. I wish I could say that I’ll be keeping my actual persons light too but the call of carbs is too deafening to ignore.

Simple accessorising

One glance at my blog and you’ll see that I really do love to pile on the makeup, focussing on accentuating my teeny, tiny eyes. While my everyday choice of lashes are a fabulously voluminous and fluttery pair from the cosmetic store, SaSa, in Hong Kong, I was drawn to these the other day. They’re quite subtle (well, for me anyway), so will be perfect for when I want more natural makeup days, thanks to their wispiness and the haphazard lengths along the lash bone.

If there’s one thing you should know about it, it’s that I’m an advertiser’s dream. Seeing that Chanel had a new foundation and then subsequently reading the rave reviews about it sent my purse strings quivering. And thankfully, it lives up to the hype! Perfection Lumiere Velvet is light enough to still feel fresh-faced but provides enough coverage to even out skin tone without matte-ing my face bone dry. And would you look at that: it has SPF 15 - summer much?!

Admittedly, I don’t do heavy jewellery and necklaces and whatnot are kept delicate anyway (just look at my Instagram and you’ll be nauseated with daintiness). I actually only just bought my first proper statement necklace two weeks ago! But I’m upping the ante this summer and layering even more light jewellery, because that’s the great thing about small pieces - it never feels like too much! Inspired by Song of Style, I nabbed this lariat necklace from ASOS to mix up the lengths.

Speaking of ASOS! I’ve been a bit of a triangle bra fiend recently and ASOS is a really great place to pick up inexpensive ones. As a perpetual lover of all things white, white underwear is actually not something I have a lot of because, you know, white bra under white is a no-no. But this beauty *heart eyes emoji*… I couldn’t not. Let me tell you, the lack of a perfectly spherical bosom in favour of a more natural shape is so worth it with triangle bras because of the ridiculous comfort!

Slinkier underwear warrants slinky cami tops to show it off and my current favourite is this subtle metallic number from Zara. I’m going for muted colours over brights this summer and this fits in with the colour palette perfectly! (I knew it was a winner because they styled it with white bottoms in store.)
